With Gallegly serving one more term, let Campaign 2008 begin
Well not exactly. Because the campaign really can't begin until we see the results of the statewide elections in November. If McClintock is not elected LG, he will undoubtedly seriously consider running for the seat despite his well-known aversion to Washington DC. If he jumps in, it's a lock. No one could touch him. But watch for plenty of potential candidates to make lots of noise to dissuade him from running. But McClintock will hopefully act in the best interest of California conservatives and make the run.

Let's see what good buddys Tony the Tiger and I Love Me Tom are when they are pitted against each other.
Strickland will never run against McClintock. Besdies the fact he could never beat him, Strickland just has too spotty a record to compete.
Watch for Strickland to start his campaign for Congress the day after he loses his Controller primary in an effort to make himself the frontrunner and keep McClintock out.
Which Strickland is going to run for Congress. That is a back room deal I wouldn't want to see.
I'm willing to bet that Elton Gallegly's choice to succeed him is Simi Valley Councilman Glen Becerra.
Glen would make an outstanding member of Congress. Young, Hispanic, good looking, great track record as an elected offical. oh...and his name is not Stickland
I would eat glass to see Becerra beat the Stricklands and McClintock. He is a great guy and they are manipulative policians who cannot feed themselves outside the public trough.
I agree Becerra is a good guy and would make a great Congressman. But he has some skeletons in his closet that includes supporting certain liberal Democratic US Senators. That will be a problem for him.
If McClintock runs, no one beats him. Period. Strickland is another story considering his pro-union, pro-illegal immigration voting record.
If a Strickland must represent the area in Congress, it should be Audra Strickland. There aren't enough pro-life women in Congress.
