Why the Wyman Hatred?

Matt Rexroad has posted that he'll work for free to manage an IE against Phil Wyman if he runs for the Assembly again. You don't usually see that with political hacks, but I guess Matt knows there are always ways to skim off the top.

But the bigger question is why the hatred for Phil Wyman. Rexroad isn't the only one with this passionate hatred and this hatred isn't limited to liberals either. There are conservatives who hate Wyman just as passionately.

Among conservatives, the worst anyone has really been able to say about the guy is that he is cheap, really cheap. So what? He is one of the most solid conservative votes there is. I'd vastly prefer Wyman over a good portion of the hacks in Sacramento right now.

Rexroad is right. Wyman was the most selfish Legislator in the state.

Rexroad and Cameron Smyth ran the Pete Knight campaign in 1996 that beat Wyman for the State Senate.

The Runners, Asburn, McCarthy, Knight, Postmus, Thomas.... put them all on the anti-Wyman list.

Ask anyone that has worked for Wyman. Ask Wyman's family.

Have you met him?

Is Rexroad a liberal?

Al - being a great vote doesn't count for much any more.

It will be interesting to see how many people put aside their personal feelings toward Wyman if it comes down to a head-to-head race between CTA goon Jean Fuller and Wyman.

Wyman is running for the Legislature to spike his pension. He falls under the old system. With two more years in the Assembly he gets to 20 years and increases his base salary dramatically.

Surely Novey sees this coming. Hammer him.

Phil Wyman is yesterday's news. How old is he, anyway? Has to be in his 70's. And he'll only have two years to serve before being termed out for good, so what could he possibly accomplish? How does he think his running yet again will serve the public good? I hate to sound unkind, but this reeks of an ego trip.

There are other candidates who could provide fresh blood. The Bill Thomas machine will be supporting Bakersfield School Superintendent Jean Fuller. Those who are opposed to that faction can support Gene Lundquist, who has a strong background in agriculture.

Wyman is by far the most energetic and able candidate on the ballot. The Bill Thomas candidate is in for it. ---and I find it funny that someone called ccpoa would be whining about a pension spike. Those guys are still praying for another Gray Davis to come along and sellout to them. This is exactly why people dislike Wyman --Because he stands up to special interest and they blow big dollars on hit pieces to keep him out--What we should do is PUT HIM BACK IN!!!

Phil Wyman is one of the most petty, selfish Members this legislature has seen in the last 20 years. He once made his staff take a 10% pay cut to get his office expenditure below then-Assemblyman Don Rogers, against whom he was running for Senate. Besides, his voice coming over the television should entitle every staffer to Worker's Comp. Disability.

I still don't understand the haters out there. If you are a true conservative then you know that Phil Wyman is one of the most Loyal conservatives out there. He is also the true Law and Order candidate on the ticket and that is what Bakersfield needs right now.

It seems several of you claim to be conservative yet you are against the loyalist conservative on the ballot. Phil Wyman is coined as "the taxpayer's best friend and the criminal's worst enemy" for a reason. He has support right off the bat from the NRA, the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers' Association, and the Kern Law Enforcement Association. He co-authored possibly the best legislation this state has seen in years with "3 Strikes & You're Out". Our Law Enforcement know Wyman is the best canidate as he took a stand against crime and now he is taking a strong stand against illegal immigration. He has won year after year for a reason, He is simply the best and most qualified man for the job. You call him "cheap" huh? well what would you do if your state was billions of dollars in debt? spend more money?

Wyman for Assembly '06
