Governor Houdini-egger’s Slight of Hand Act

So, the big news around the state is that the Governor is considering granting clemency to Crips-thug-murderer Stanley “Tookie” Williams.

Snoop Dogg and others have been urging that because Williams has apparently become a “good citizen,” he shouldn’t be held accountable for all the little pesky things he did, you know, like killing people (Oh, for what it’s worth Williams claims he is innocent…too bad the facts don’t back up his claims).

Conservatives are up in arms that the Governor would even be considering letting this killer free from the death he rightly deserves.

Which, while I can certainly see how the Governor would make his argument if he did decide to set Tookie free (hide behind the Catholicism for the conservatives, and give high-fives to all his liberal pals), I think this is all a big act.

While the Governor is a liberal on things like the environment, abortion, and the like – he’s always been with us on two things: taxes and public safety.

By taking these meetings, the Governor gets props from the lefties as a reasonable guy. However, by then denying the clemency, the Governor re-establishes his base, and begins to rebuild the bridge to the majority of Californians, who while left-of-center on all sorts of things, are still all about putting murderers “in the chair,” so to speak.

This slight of hand act would make even Houdini proud.

Hey Folks,

I don't know if Pete is trying to help out Wayne Johnson and Steve Poizner by trying to change the subject but be sure to get the facts on Steve Poizner's far left record on the previous blog. It's painful to read and any Republican who backs that liberal phony is a sellout. He makes Richard Riordan look like a winger!

Change the subject?

Um, no.

Poizner's liberal acts aren't new, clemency for Tookie is.

I'm just trying to keep the content fresh.

Content fresh, huh? All for that but this is the quickest subject change in a while on this blog, my friend.

And why did you ask Murray for his solution to the party's ills when he was simply pointing out Poizner's crappy record and repeated failures at buying bright, shiny political things?

One way to keep the content fresh and help the party is to keep the sellouts from letting a true Republican In Name Only and the most liberal "GOPer" in modern CA history purchase a statewide nomination he has no business even seeking.

By the way, the whole Tookie-Arnold thing is an act for the public's consumption. If Arnold commuted his sentence the GOP voters and law enforcement community would do to him what the primary voters are going to do to Poizner in June.

These Comments are Absurd...

Let's Focus on Tookie.

First, I want to say, that I have hammered Poisioner for months.

Tookie deserves clemency, but a life setence never to be a free man again. He has proven his rehabilitation by the books he has written and the impact he has had on many lives. It would be an injustice to execute him.

That being said, I am a 1000% advocate of the death penalty. But, because of Tookie's situation and the Extraordinary circumstances of his life, I think we should let him live... caged up.

Regards,

RC

Wow! Roseville Conservative, I'm sorry but you're the one making absurd comments. I share your disdain for Poizner but not your views on Tookie.

How can you say you are for the death penalty when you are willing to commute the death sentence of a man who brutally murdered not one, but four innocent people?!

What's more, he's one of the most significant American criminals of the last fifty years, founding a huge gang responsible for the murder of thousands. Law enforcement believes he is still helping run it from behind bars.

If anyone ever deserved the death penalty, it's Tookie.

Here's a solution that is the right thing to do and should make almost everyone happy - let's fry Tookie and Poizner!

Come on, Steve, I'm sure he didn't mean it. Just a silly attempt at humor. Kind of like your stands on the issues.
