Oh How Things Have Changed

I just took a look at the “Arnold Voter Guide” (Tim Carey, eat your heart out!) and a few things stood out. It appears to be similar to the piece Meridian did last year for the CRP, and if so, I’m predicting another Pollie coming Matt’s way.

1)Tom McClintock is pitching the budget Reform. I seem to recall (pun intended) the Arnold folks casting McClintock supporters as “Tom-bots.” Oh how things have changed. Tom and Arnold fighting together. Wow!

2)Including Prop 73. I know it’s paid for by the Party, and I know Arnold has made his “I’d kill them” comments. But I guess I still think of Arnold as a big squish because I was surprised to see 73 included, even if in passing.

3)Poizner. I guess this is what $1.25 million buys you, a spot on the Gov’s mail piece. If 77 passes, is this a precursor to an endorsement by the Gov?

Received this voter guide in the mail Saturday, five days after receiving my actual absentee ballot.

I'm sure it looks nice, but timing is everything.

Poizner paid $1.25 million for his gubernatorial endorsement. So much for good government or a Republican Party with any principles. Not impressive for Schwarzenegger, especially when Gray Davis' asking price was $1 million. Arnie's only worth $250K more?

Rumor is that Kurzner is dropping out of the IC Race anyway. Been telling some of his inner circle that he can't raise the money to be competitive.

Announcement coming from Kurzner this week that he gets out and endorses Mendoza.

What have we come to when a qualified medical professional who actually is interested in the job of IC can't gain enough support against an anti-Bush, anti-war, pro-tax, pro-gay liberal RINO like Steve Poizner who is plotting to run for Governor and doesn't care what office he buys? We deserve to lose.

You gotta love how stupid California Republicans are. Your Aunt Ida would be tied in a poll against Cruz Bustamante for Insurance Commissioner. Mendoza ran a strong race last time and would easily beat Cruz. We could elect a Republican Latino to statewide office and build the party! Instead, Brulte and the legislative types want to run an anti-Bush, pro-tax multi-millionaire who does nothing for the party and couldn't care less about building it.

What I heard was that Kurzner is going to make a statement saying that he is mad about the whole process, but he realizes that he can't win, and the rest of his political career depends on a graceful exit.

Phil was a bit over his head with this race to begin with.

He'd have been a heck of an Assembly candidate, but statewide was a bit overly ambitious.

I wish him luck in whatever his future ventures are.

But he is better served running for a local seat or maybe an Assembly seat to build his resume.

Running for statewide with no money, no base, and no support (endorsements) is futile and stupid. And he isnt a stupid guy.

I wish him luck, and think we will see him again in a local setting.

Dr. Phil is not getting out anytime soon...

Roseville Blogger, can you qualify your remarks in some way? There is a ton of traffic flying around the blogs and in email about Dr Phil bowing out this week, and any professional would know just by looking at that race that Kurzner should bow out.

Thanks

This is all a spoof to scare people before the primary.Kruzner has over one hundred endorsements and alot of money in his campaign account. Plus his campaign website is still up.

"This is all a spoof to scare people before the primary."

The primary is 8 months from now. The November election is a special election for the Govs initiatives.

"Kruzner has over one hundred endorsements"

Yes, he has over 100 regular voters, a couple of washed up bad actors, and no significant Republican endorsements. Very significant stuff that any candidate should be afraid of.

"and alot of money in his campaign account."

Yeah, $118,000 bucks is hot stuff, especially since $100k of that was a personal loan. Really scary.

"Plus his campaign website is still up."

As opposed to Mendoza, who doesnt even have a web site.

"So my prediction is dont worry about it."

Phew. In that case, i feel better.

"Ps. This is comming from the stupid..."

Comming?

And you are calling whom "stupid"?

While you are being a smart ass about Kurzner, how about being outraged about Poizner trying to buy a statewide GOP nomination when he not only actively opposed Bush but every bedrock Republican principle regarding taxes, the war, family values and gay marriage, etc, etc. It doesn't matter how much Poizner spends - he has a glass jaw - it's whether there's any real money spent against him. Don't be so cocky, Wayne.

Thanks for the money.
