Governor's Team Retreats - Tries to Rebuild for 2006

The new ads by the Governor's team, which don't even mention his initiatives, are a clear indication that they have all but given up on his reform package and are now desperately trying to improve his own numbers heading into 2006. I suspect they are worried that Arnold will bow out of his re-election campaign if his numbers don't improve. They are also worried about keeping their lucrative contracts. While I believe the Gov. will run for re-election, look for major changes both inside and outside the horseshoe after Nov. 8th.

The new ad is also an admission that the only measure left with a chance of passing - Prop. 75 - has been hurt by it's association with the Governor.

Republican pollster Arnie Steinberg penned an excellent article on the Governor's troubles for the San Diego Union a couple of days ago. Here is the link.

Prediction (not recommendation):
The Governor and Maria will blame his Republican political team for his problems and will turn his future over to Democrat political advisors.

Inside the shoe, look for COS Pat Clarey to take the fall and for Rob Stutzman to leave for the private sector.

man, u guys r ridiculous, do u have any idea what you are talking about? The new ads arent about retreating and planning for 06, they do say vote yes on his initiatives btw. The Governor's team knows that the Governor can connect with an audience, that is why he is in the ads.

And to Charlie Regan, Clarey and Stutzman probably wont leave unless they want, but there is no way in hell, the Governor is going to turn over his future to Democrat advisors completely. thats crazy. The Democrats in the shoe already are the ones making so much trouble.

Here's a prediction, Kaufman gets canned by the CTA and loses everything. Why do you think she is going crazy over at ABC HQ? The only prop that matters to the unions (aka 75) is passing and they cannot stop it.

Clarey and Stutzman have already been shown the door. They are trying to make it look like it's their idea but after the disastrous duo they've become - dropping the Governor's poll numbers 30 points while all but 75 are doomed and Marty Wilson rips off the Guv - they are history.

This post is nothing but doom & gloom bullsh**. I do a great deal of informal polling here in CA and can tell you that the GOP is gonna vote in this election and they will be (for good or bad) backing Arnold.

The problem as I see it seems to be unprofessional websites like this one that pretend to be the last word in Sacramento politics but are in fact nothing but the musings of disaffected Republicans. Gee, you guys could at least pay for a website of your own instead of hosting on free Blogger.com.

I predict 73, 75, 76, 77 pass by signifigant margins.

When Nixon beat Mondale ... one famous supporter of Mondale said something like, "I can't believe Nixon won. Everyone I know voted for Mondale."

Kevin, if you are right ... maybe you can make money doing "internal polling."

73 and 75 has the best chance of passing ... not 76. 77 has an outside chance.

"PADILLA COMMITTEE, NO ON 74, 75, 76 & 77: MAJOR FUNDING BY LOS ANGELES CITY COUNCIL PRESIDENT, ALEX" has just opened.

Sounds kinda fishy, I coulda swore his Leage of Cities endorsed prop 76.

NAME OF CONTRIBUTOR CITY STATE/ZIP
COUNCIL PRESIDENT ALEX PADILLA COMMITTEE LOS ANGELES CA / 90017-0000
ID NUMBER EMPLOYER OCCUPATION
1261364 MEMO: TRANSFER
AMOUNT TYPE TRANS. DATE FILED DATE TRANS #
$75,000.00 INITIAL 10/31/2005 10/31/2005 1134882-C1

So he's using his CD7 money to throw it into his own Proposition PAC, to then plaster his image all over the 20th Senate with mailers?

Don't you see, the Governor has to reform his image so he can rebuild it.
